This report revisits the Group's 2012 report and measures progress against the key recommendations. It also takes into the account the findings and recommendations of the Stem Cell Strategic Oversight Committee's March 2015 report, Unrelated Donor Stem Cell Transplantation in the UK: Effective, Affordable, Sustainable, and updates the recommendations of the report accordingly.

Cord blood transplantation: meeting the unmet demand

This 2012 report explored the state of umbilical cord blood donation and transplantation in the UK. It endorses the findings of the UK Stem Cell Strategic Forum (December 2010) and supports their road map for increasing the availability of stem cells for transplantation, and set out a number of recommendations with the ambition of making the UK a world leader in the collection and donation of umbilical cord blood stem cells for transplantation and research.
